How therapy works

I offer a free 15 minute consultation over the phone, so we can talk briefly about your difficulties and what I can offer. If you decide to book an appointment, then we will meet for an assessment in the first instance. This is an opportunity to get a fuller picture of your life and what you want to work on in therapy. We will then start meeting for regular sessions to work towards your goals.

People seek therapy for many different reasons and you might not be able to put things easily into words to start with. I can help you to understand what you are experiencing now, what may have got you to this point, and what is keeping you stuck. We can then work on unpicking the vicious cycles you may be stuck in. This might look like practical strategies to help you manage symptoms, learning to be more mindful, or processing upsetting experiences from the past. At each stage of therapy we will review together what is working and what is not.

Therapy with me will be a collaborative process. I do not have all the answers, but together we can explore your experiences and find ways of moving forward.

Therapy is a challenging process, but one that is worthwhile. It can help you to make changes in your daily habits, your relationships with others, and your relationship with yourself.
